Sketch #6 Bird

This is a sketch a did September 9th, inked, and then colored with colored pencils. I then did some clean-up in Photoshop before posting it on Picasa. I enjoy the process of creating. I started a sketchbook after visiting my parents and my dad showed me his 'waiting book'. That's not what he called it, but the name suits. Now at the doctor's office, at break times, and other sit-and-wait times, I have something I enjoy doing. It makes the time speed by!

I love your bird! I also have a little sketchbook that I keep in my purse that I draw in when ever I have a few spare moments... waiting time, like when I got to the laundromat or waiting for Matthew to come out of the school in the afternoons... now he will be starting drivers education, so I will have a couple hours of sketch time while he is in class! I love drawing by hand again... I had not realized until a few months ago that I had not picked up a pencil in years... that everything I was doing was done on the computer. I am happier than I have been in a long time, it is extremely therapeutic. :)

Thanks! Right now I am into curves - they flow so well :)

I was looking at your pastel paintings, they are neat! Pastel is my most favorite medium. I got a box of pencils at a garage sale when I was little and fell in love. They draw thick and thin and blend deliciously. Only problem is that they smear everywhere! I am so glad you enjoy them too :)

Drawing is much more therapeutic for me then creating on the computer (and when I'm out, there isn't much to haul around, the equipment won't break if dropped, and my pencil or sketch book are extremely unlikely to get stolen, lost, yes, stolen, no). I like the computer for reproduction and in some cases clean-up and colorizing, but even with the wacom pad its just not like freehand.

My youngest daughter finished drivers ed this summer. She is still working on finishing her 50 hours of driving. It's been difficult for her to get the hours because everything here is so close. She rode her bike to the high school for drivers ed most of the time. In Missouri she would have been finished months ago! Good luck with Matthew. May he drive safely!
