ATC Dragon in grass

This is the first ATC I've done with one of my leaf dragons. I sketched him and the background leaves then stamped a swirly ground. After coloring and glittering, I cut them out and glued them to my watercolored background. I sketched more leaves, cut them out, and popped the tops up. Hello and my friend I stamped, cut out, glitter glued, then glued down. I cut out, freehand, the grass and glued just the bottom of it to the card.

An Experiment

Well this is what I worked on this morning. The paper is plain old copy paper and the size is most of an A4 sheet (part of the top portion got torn while I was ironing the paper to dry it faster and I had to trim the paper). The water color affect is from markers (I don't have any paints or paintbrushes here, grrrr), the cheap kids BIPUNTA dual ended markers made in Italy. I had lots of fun coloring on my fingures and splashing color and water everywhere. My new desk top is now christened and so is the wall..... Then I inked in my design with an 03 Micron (I remembered to bring those!) and colored it in with my Prismacolor pencils. I think I may take up finger painting, it is much fun and stress relieving ;D

#27 WB2 Card for Pastor D

Our pastor is leaving our church, so I sketched a card front in my WB2. After the design was completed, I cleaned it up in PS3 and added the central text. We will certainly miss Pastor D and his wife!

#2 WB2 Brown Leaf Dragon 53

This is the first sketch I drew in my new book. Naturally I had to draw a leaf dragon...

It's been raining and gray lately, flooding, etc., so perhaps that is why I chose browns. He would definitely blend in with the reddish-brown soil we have around here. Or, maybe, he's just been splattered or been rolling in the mud :D

The pages in my new book are whiter and wider than my old one. I definitely like the whiteness and the extra space is great too.  My pencil lines are digging into the paper a bit more than the old book, so I think I am going to have to switch to a softer pencil or face quit a bit of line clean-up like I did for this fellow. In the original the the whiteness of the scar lines don't show up too bad, but when I scanned the drawing they were quite distracting. After I scan a drawing, I put it into Photoshop to clean it up a bit and in doing so I blow the thing up a lot. Every imperfection shows up. It can be tricky to keep the texture of the pencil and paper while getting rid of stray marks and smears. Therefore, the better the original, the less end processing work, and I don't know about you, but I'm all for less work :D

#1 WB2 Dedication Page

This is the dedication page for my new waitbook. I had fun doodling all sorts of things into this page as you can see. It is a bit more green than I had intended, but I like the way turned out anyway. I started it while I was cleaning up and posting the last few pages of Waitbook 1.

Congratulations to me!

I finally finished something ;)

This is the last sketch from my Waitbook 1. He is a pretty red orange, a nice bright ending to my book.

Thanks so much to my Dad for giving me the inspiration to start and finish this Waitbook.

I hope my viewers have enjoyed the sketches from my Waitbook 1. Hopefully I will be able to post sketches from Waitbook 2 soon. perhaps tomorrow...

Sketch #108 Leaf Dragon Blue and Green 51

This is my second one of the curly feeling leaf dragons. I like the way the ears and tail turned out on this one a bit better than on the first one of these I did. Although, this one, for some reason, does make me think of Princess Leia. Go figure.

This guy makes me think of oranges on an orange tree. Perhaps that is where he hides eating the bugs that would ruin the crop...

Sketch #104 Leaf Dragon Red Pair 47

This pair I made in preparation for  Valentine's Day. With my usual delay, I managed to finish it just after Valentines and it has finally made it's way to the end of the queue, early for Valentine's Day 2013 :D Anyway, I think they turned out quite cute. I am thinking about sketching more pairs as they create a fetching composition.

Sketch #97 Scene 7

This is the last scene I drew in my Waitbook 1. I am looking forward to sketching more scenes in my next Waitbook 2.The rest of my Waitbook 1 is filled with leaf dragons.

I was doodling along and decided to add an elf king to the sketch. He seems to think he is hidden, concentrating so hard on the reddish flying prey, but he's not. The little blue guy without antennae seems to be thinking about what kind of threat the king may be, probably none. He doesn't have a net and their size is quite large relative to his. The oak leaf dragon is keeping very still in hopes that the king will not see him, so far so good :)

I enjoy drawing these scenes. They do take longer to sketch, ink, and color than a single item, thus I have to be in the proper mood to work on one.
